Dear
4,
Yesterday Lynn was telling me about her wonderful
day out shopping with some friends. She told me
how she made a pretty significant purchase at a shop when the
salesperson handed the bag across the counter, Lynn said
'Thanks' and the sales person said 'You're Welcome'.
Now shouldn't it be the other way around? Lynn and I
may behave like we're behind the counter when we're not, but
this has become my new pet peeve. Sales people who behave like they
are the ones doing us the favour!
This takes me back to our business and I hope that we
have never made any of you feel like we're doing you a favour.
We honestly appreciate every last customer who comes through those
doors. Even after nine years, it's still a compliment to know that
you've gone out of your way, or put time aside to pay us a visit.
So, we THANK YOU for even reading this!

Easy Folded Poncho by Churchmouse Yarns
|
Which takes me to a couple of our favorite
suppliers. Why? Because they are sincerely grateful for our
business- which means your business! And we think you should know
who they are.
By now most of you are familiar with their gorgeous
patterns. They have an element of 'Bloor Street' in them and Lynn
recently proclaimed 'Why is it that whenever I start a Churchmouse
pattern, I can't put it down until it's done!?!?!'
Their patterns are a series of well written patterns
that have been successfully knit, many a time in their own yarn
shop in Washington. They are perfect for those on your Christmas
list who are worthy of a handknit gift this season and often only
take a skein or two of yarn! The other thing? One time
knitting these projects won't be enough. You'll want to re-use
these patterns again and again, for sure!
I love phoning in my order. The person on the phone
is always cheerful, offers good suggestions and when the invoice
arrives it says 'We are thrilled you are having success with our
patterns!' not, 'Prices subject to change without notice'.
And for those of you wondering- their new release of
patterns is on it's way to us as we speak!

Old Mill Knitting
Another 'aim to please' company that is gaining some
ground is Old
Mill Knitting. They send us the Naturally Yarns
from New Zealand, Filatura
Yarns from Italy (Zara!), and Wendy, a
familiar line that keeps all of our little ones happy and warm.
The owner was sick as a dog the day I phoned to
clarify a few things and through it all she just kept saying 'Thank
you'. Manners can certainly take you a long way.
Check out the coupon at the botton of this
newsletter for 10%
off all Naturally Yarns at the shop!
Thank you Old Mill Knitting!

Show and Tell 2011
Show and Tell was a great success this year. We had
two full hours of inspiration while we went around the circle
gushing over everyone's finished projects. The laughter was free
and we managed to make over $400.00 for chariity.
A big thank you to everyone who braved the elements
and got a little bit wet in order to join in the fun!
We're already looking forward to next year.

Markham
Fair
Congratulations to the 20 knitters who won in their
category and received a gift certificate from us.
We've enjoyed meeting all of the winners from each
class! It's always nice to have a face to a knitting project.

Gift Ideas
I must admit that I feel the pain for those coming
in to look for a gift for their favorite knitter. They stand there
with a 'deer in the headlights' kind of look, not exactly knowing
what they're looking for. We'll do our very best to coach, but if
you want us to put something aside for them, just let us know!
It's never a problem.
For those of you that are knitting gifts this year
for those lucky people on your list, why not include a 100 ml
bottle of Eucalan?
This tiny token ensures that your gifts are taken care of. Nobody
likes to get that phone call that begins with 'You'll NEVER guess
what happened when I threw my mittens into the washing machine!!!'
(We speak from experience).
We're also expecting some really fun cards to attach
to your handknits. We won't spoil the surprise by telling you
what they say, but be sure to check them out the next time you're
in the shop! Another perfect addition to any knitted item you may
gift this holiday season.
If you're looking for more ideas for your list, why
not ask for a set of interchangeable needles? We stock Addi Clicks, Addi Bamboo
Clicks, Addi Lace Clicks, Denise and KnitPro.
Lots of options, lots of needles!
Still stumped? A gift certificate is
something that any knitter would be happy to recieve! Don't you
just love finding one in your drawer a month or so after the
holiday rush? It brightens that otherwise 'blech' January day!
|
|
We want to take this opportunity to THANK YOU once
again for your continued support. We wouldn't still be here if it
weren't for you loyal and faithful knitters. We certainly hope
to see you in the coming weeks leading up to the holidays!
Stay tuned to your inbox for info regarding more
holiday knitting ideas and workshops.
All the best to you and yours.
